“Metaverse of Magic,” a spellbinding theatrical production directed by Siobhan Ginty, has set its sights on Broadway after its successful premiere in Australia. The magic-infused show, co-created by Ginty, Suzanne Jones, and Del Wynegar, plans to tour the Middle East and Asia, with aspirations for a Broadway debut in spring 2025, though official confirmation is pending.
This innovative production seamlessly blends illusion with storytelling and audience participation. Utilizing a unique interactive approach, audience members engage live with performers through their mobile phones, contributing to challenges that propel the storyline forward. Eddie Perfect, a 2019 Tony Award nominee for his work on “Beetlejuice,” has contributed additional script material to enhance the magical experience.
“Metaverse of Magic” mesmerized audiences during its Australian run in Sydney, Canberra, and Brisbane from November 2023 to January 2024. The production has since opened in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, on January 25. The current ensemble features Australian magician Ash Hodgkinson (“Ash Magic”), along with illusionists Charli Ashby, HARA, Horret Wu, Jarred Fell, and Sabine van Dieman.
Suzanne Jones, one of the co-creators, highlighted the production’s groundbreaking approach, stating, “The magic/variety format has been the same for millennia. With ‘Metaverse of Magic,’ we are bringing it into the digital age, combining gamification and interactivity with live theater.”
Jones expressed excitement about breaking the traditional performer-audience relationship, fostering joyful interaction among theatergoers. The team is thrilled to bring this innovative experience to a global audience.
While details about the Broadway run, including the production timeline and venue, remain undisclosed, plans for engagements in London’s West End and across North America are also in the works. “Metaverse of Magic” is produced by Jones for Jones Theatrical Group, promising to enchant audiences worldwide with its magical journey into the digital age.
