Yuga Labs, the creator of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, is set to reintroduce its popular Dookey Dash game in a revamped and free-to-play edition titled “Unclogged.” Teaming up with game studio Faraway, the crypto startup plans to relaunch the game later this quarter, allowing players to once again navigate a 3D sewer tunnel as an ape riding a submerged vehicle to score points and avoid obstacles.
The original Dookey Dash, released exclusively for Ethereum NFT holders, required a Sewer Pass NFT, granted at no cost to owners of Bored Ape and Mutant Ape NFTs. In the upcoming Unclogged edition, however, the game will be accessible to all players, regardless of NFT ownership.
While the official release date is yet to be disclosed, a recent announcement from Yuga Labs hinted at exciting incentives for Ethereum NFT holders. Those possessing NFTs such as Bored Apes, Mutant Apes, Kodas, Bored Ape Kennel Club dogs, and HV-MTL Forge NFTs may qualify for exclusive “token benefits.” A trailer shared on Twitter features ApeCoin logos, suggesting potential Ethereum token rewards, though Yuga Labs has not confirmed this detail.
Dookey Dash: Unclogged is set to launch on iOS, Android, Mac desktop, and Windows desktop platforms, departing from the web browser-based format of its predecessor. This shift promises a smoother and more secure gaming experience for users.
The release is eagerly anticipated by fans, with renowned Bored Ape and gaming influencer “The Fortnite Guy” revealing insights from a recent playtest. According to TFG, the game is slated for a mid-February release, and select Yuga NFT holders may receive additional NFTs through in-game achievements.
TFG showcased a preview video highlighting new features, including diverse playable character skins, game vehicles, a leaderboard, and in-game currencies available for purchase with fiat currency. The video also introduced a novel “Sewer Rank” system, featuring tiers such as Amateur, Semi-Pro, Professional, All-Star, Champion, Hall of Famer, and GOAT, each offering distinct boost percentages. Players can choose boosters before starting the game, with options like “slow booster,” “magnet booster,” and “power shart.”
The revamped Dookey Dash aims to engage a wider crypto audience, with the hope that it will avoid the cheating and boosting issues reported in its original release. As the launch date approaches, excitement builds for the return of this quirky and competitive endless runner game.
