Square Enix, the creative force behind renowned titles like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, initiated the first NFT auction for its upcoming game, Symbiogenesis, on Monday. As an added incentive, the game publisher announced the distribution of free NFTs to participants in the bidding process. The launch date for Symbiogenesis has been officially disclosed as December 21, solidifying its place in the growing landscape of browser-based Ethereum and Polygon NFT games.
The auction, employing a three-stage rollout, commenced on Monday, offering a total of 500 in-game Ethereum NFT characters. The distribution plan is as follows:
1. November 27-28:
Ten character NFTs will be exclusively available to Symbiogenesis stakeholders and contributors.
2. November 30 – December 1:
An additional 90 NFTs will be released through a priority mint for top players who successfully completed challenges in the game’s official Discord server.
3. December 2-3:
The largest segment, comprising 400 character NFTs for Chapter 1, will be accessible to users added to an allowlist during the Discord campaign.
In all three waves, the NFTs will initially be listed as free to claim. However, if multiple eligible users attempt to claim the same NFT, Square Enix will initiate an auction for the character.
To further fuel bidding activity and reward participants, Square Enix has introduced bonus NFTs during the auction. Any individual placing a bid will receive a complimentary “special countdown illustration” NFT, featuring four distinct versions. Additionally, those who place a bid of at least 0.05 ETH (approximately $100) will be eligible to receive a “Member Card Red (Colored)” NFT. This card provides players with “additional points” when logging into Symbiogenesis, enhancing their gaming experience.
With this strategic move, Square Enix aims to generate excitement and engagement within the Symbiogenesis community, offering a blend of collectibles and gaming incentives through the burgeoning world of NFTs.
