In the most recent episode of CoinGeek Discussions, Alex Vidal and Zachary Weiner engaged in a conversation with prominent BSV blockchain entrepreneurs and thought leaders. The discussion touched on various topics, including multi-chain gaming, microtransactions, and the personal Bitcoin journeys of the guests.
Among the guests were Connor Murray of Britevue, Brett Banfe from the BSV Blockchain Association, and Patrick Collins, an independent entrepreneur and coder. The podcast provided insights into the current state and future potential of the BSV blockchain and its applications.
BSV’s Recent Surge and Its Impact
Vidal opened the conversation by acknowledging the recent surge in BSV’s price, noting that it had become the top-performing digital currency on the day of the recording. He also mentioned the growing interest in BSV futures trading on several exchanges, suggesting that the tide might be turning in favor of BSV.
Weiner chimed in, emphasizing that regardless of price fluctuations, the BSV community finds joy in the journey. He pointed out that the ride is smoother when viewed with a longer time frame in mind.
Connor Murray and Britevue’s Microtransactions
Connor Murray began by sharing his personal Bitcoin journey. He developed an interest in Bitcoin during the Silk Road saga but didn’t fully immerse himself in the technology until 2017, particularly after witnessing Dr. Craig Wright’s presentations in Arnhem.
Murray initially supported Bitcoin Cash (BCH) but switched to BSV after the chain split. He expressed his belief that advocates for larger block sizes, or “big blockers,” represent the silent majority within the Bitcoin community.
Murray introduced Britevue, an incentive-based online review platform. Frustrated by the lack of reliable reviews, he designed a platform that leverages micropayments to encourage users to provide valuable feedback. In addition to his work on Britevue, Murray has contributed to the BSV Academy and the BSV Blockchain Association’s efforts to maintain the original Bitcoin protocol.
He also mentioned his involvement with the Teranode project, highlighting the significant progress it has made. While he’s not deeply involved in Teranode, he discussed witnessing sustained throughput of one million transactions per second.
Brett Banfe’s Journey and the Vision for the Internet
Brett Banfe shared his Bitcoin journey, recalling his introduction to the Bitcoin white paper in 2009. However, he hesitated to generate coins at the time due to concerns about safely managing private keys. It wasn’t until 2018 that he took a closer look at BSV, intrigued by its unique price performance and Dr. Wright’s work.
Banfe’s journey led him to become involved with Fabriik, where he worked alongside industry figures like Ryan X. Charles and Jack Liu. As he delved deeper into the BSV community, he recognized the potential for transformative change and embraced roles in the BSV Blockchain Association. He took over the role of Head of Community after being mentored by George Siosi Samuels.
Banfe currently participates in the BSV Blockchain Association, HandCash, and Champions TCG. He expressed his belief in Bitcoin’s potential to provide opportunities on a global scale and contribute to the next stage of human development. Banfe also highlighted the original vision for the internet, emphasizing that Bitcoin can finally bring the concept of peer-to-peer transactions and communication to life.
Patrick Collins and Uploading Music to Bitcoin
Patrick Collins, a music composer and developer who has collaborated with renowned entities like Disney and Dreamworks, discussed his experience in uploading music to the Bitcoin blockchain. He addressed the challenge of uploading songs to the blockchain and outlined his innovative approach, which involved splitting audio files into hashes and creating a master inscription to retrieve them.
Collins shared his Bitcoin journey, revealing that he first learned about Bitcoin in 2010. He watched the price rise from $1 to $1,000 in 2013, only to witness a subsequent crash to $200. He mentioned that he took the opportunity to buy more during the price dip.
The guests’ diverse experiences and perspectives on Bitcoin underscored the technology’s multifaceted nature and its potential to revolutionize various industries, including microtransactions and the entertainment sector. The podcast offered valuable insights into the BSV community’s vision for the future.
