A bipartisan parliamentary committee in the United Kingdom has called on the British government to take action to safeguard creators from copyright infringement linked to non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and address potential concerns associated with sporting groups issuing digital assets.
In an October 11 press release, members of the Culture, Media, and Sport Committee emphasized that the “most pressing issue” at hand is the risk to artists’ intellectual property rights, stemming from the rapid and straightforward process of minting NFTs, in stark contrast to the often lengthy and cumbersome procedure for artists seeking to protect their rights.
