Legendary soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo recently submitted to a revealing lie detector test, during which he divulged intriguing hints about his plans to venture further into the world of nonfungible tokens (NFTs).
The lie detector session unfolded in conjunction with the release of Ronaldo’s second NFT collection, developed in collaboration with cryptocurrency exchange giant, Binance. This collection, which made its debut in July, commemorated Ronaldo’s status as the highest goal scorer in the history of the sport.
In a captivating video, fans of the sport were treated to the sight of Ronaldo undertaking the lie detector challenge, where he was grilled with soccer-related yes-or-no questions. Queries ranged from the fate of Portugal in the upcoming World Cup to the longevity of his soccer career well into his 40s.
Notably, Ronaldo’s response to the question of NFT ownership was an unequivocal “yes,” with the lie detector verifying the authenticity of his claim. Equally intriguing was his confirmation of future NFT endeavors, which also withstood the scrutiny of the lie detector.
Ronaldo’s initial foray into the NFT realm occurred in 2022, following his multiyear partnership with Binance. The collaboration aims to introduce the principles of Web3 to soccer enthusiasts across the globe through an array of NFT campaigns. Ronaldo’s NFT releases promise fans exclusive engagement opportunities with the football superstar, further enhancing his bond with his global audience.
Meanwhile, in the world of soccer and cryptocurrency, Brazilian football luminary Ronaldinho Gaúcho has recently found himself embroiled in a crypto fraud investigation within Brazil. On August 27, local media outlets reported his failure to appear before Congress in connection with a probe into an alleged pyramid scheme associated with one of his enterprises.
Subsequently, on August 31, Ronaldinho finally testified before a committee inquiry, vehemently disavowing any involvement in a scheme that promised an improbable 2% daily return on cryptocurrency investments. A $61 million damages lawsuit was filed against the company, but Ronaldinho asserted that he had no association with it. The athlete further contended that the company had employed his likeness without authorization and presented him as a victim of the scheme.
