Global sportswear and lifestyle giant, Adidas, has unveiled its partnership with digital artists for an exciting NFT initiative and collaborative ventures, scheduled for a launch coinciding with Korea Blockchain Week.
This innovative project, aptly named “Residency,” is being spearheaded and executed by Adidas’ in-house creative hub, the Three Stripes Studio. The Residency project holds a dual objective, seeking to spotlight diverse talents within the art industry while fostering synergistic connections between Adidas and artists. This collaborative venture transcends the boundaries of the physical and digital realms, with an unveiling planned during Korea Blockchain Week, taking place in South Korea from September 5 to 6, 2023.
Adidas has confirmed that the NFT collectibles will prominently feature the artistic works of two renowned creators: the enigmatic MonkeeMoto and the creative force known as Adra Kandil, recognized under the pseudonym Dear Nostalgia.
MonkeeMoto, a distinguished Japanese artist, boasts a portfolio spanning game development and digital concept design, contributing a unique perspective to the NFT collection.
In contrast, Adra Kandil, hailing from Lebanon, infuses her artistry with a captivating blend of diverse elements. Her impressive collaborations with esteemed fashion brands including Gucci, Chanel, Cartier, and Roberto Cavalli underscore her artistic versatility.
The NFT collections will be available in both limited and open editions. The limited edition will comprise 100 pieces from each of the aforementioned artists, priced at 0.15 ETH (approximately $250) per piece. These exclusive items are reserved for attendees of the blockchain event, adding an extra layer of significance to the collection.
Meanwhile, the open edition of the NFT collection, accessible to a wider audience, will be priced at 0.03 ETH (around $50) per piece. Collectors and enthusiasts will have the opportunity to mint these open edition NFTs from September 6 to September 11, 2023.
Stacey King, Global Head of Communications and Activations for Adidas Studio, expressed her enthusiasm for the project’s alignment with the web3 ethos, stating, “It felt like such a natural step to go ‘all in,’ and create an even stronger pathway and platform for some of the coolest and most engaging artists in our community.”
As the worlds of sportswear, art, and blockchain converge, Adidas’ “Residency” project promises to be a captivating exploration of creativity, innovation, and collaboration. It signifies a significant stride in the brand’s commitment to embracing emerging technologies and the burgeoning NFT ecosystem.
