The Metaverse Architecture Biennale (MAB), themed “Presence of the Future,” is scheduled to debut from September 21 to 24 this year, marking a groundbreaking event that will convene leading creators from around the world to underscore the pivotal role of architecture and design in shaping Web3 and the Metaverse as potent platforms for business and cultural transformation.
Drawing inspiration from renowned events like the Venice Biennale and Expo, the Metaverse Architecture Biennale will showcase virtual pavilions and immersive worlds conceived by architects at the forefront of digital design. Esteemed firms such as Killa Design, LAVA, PLP, ATRIUM, Soomeen Hahm, Spaces DAO, DA!, Il Prisma, SA lab, iheartblob, Mariana Cabugueira Studios, Illusorr, and Drew Gilbert, along with fifteen other foremost designers chosen through an open call, will contribute their visionary creations.
The hosting of the Biennale will be split between two prominent metaverse platforms, Decentraland and W3rlds, effectively immersing visitors in an interactive experience. Attendees will have the privilege of teleporting between these platforms, engaging with virtual pavilions, partaking in interactive exhibits, and fostering connections with a global community of innovative minds. Notably, participation in this online event will be open and complimentary, with only a computer needed to access the metaverse platforms.
The inaugural Metaverse Architecture Biennale represents a pioneering initiative that will serve as a prominent platform to showcase the transformative potential of the Metaverse while examining its multifaceted impact across industries. Over the course of four days, participants will have the chance to interact with virtual pavilions conceived by visionary designers, attend captivating talks and performances, and uncover advanced business solutions within the Metaverse.
Prominent architectural firms, industry leaders, and forward-thinking creators will converge at the event, which has already initiated an open call for virtual creators to highlight global talents and feature their projects alongside established names within the Biennale.
Beyond the architectural showcase, the Biennale will extend into cultural and entertainment events, lectures, public discussions, an Architecture Carnival, and more. The detailed public program will be unveiled closer to the event date and is set to feature experts hailing from the architecture, Metaverse, design, and marketing sectors.
Sergey Nadtochiy, co-organizer and curator of MAB, expressed the vision behind the event, stating, “We aim to redefine the role of architecture and design in shaping the future of the Metaverse. We truly believe that architecture will play an integral part in the creation of the Metaverse, as graphic design played in shaping the internet we use today.”
Irina Dubovik, co-organizer of MAB, further emphasized the event’s significance, stating, “This event will not only showcase the remarkable creativity of our global community but also serve as a platform for exploring the limitless possibilities that the Metaverse offers to businesses worldwide.”
