In a time when AI often raises concerns about job displacement, a remarkable story from India is turning that narrative on its head. A 10th-grade student, nicknamed “Musk,” has shown how AI can be harnessed as a tool for opportunity rather than a threat.
Over the past two months, Musk has created and sold eight websites for small businesses, earning more than ₹1.5 lakh (roughly $2,000) after investing just ₹2,500 (around $30) into an AI-powered website-building tool.
The story gained viral attention on Reddit, where the founder of the AI platform used by Musk shared how they first came across his activity. The founder recalled, “India is not for beginners, and yesterday, I truly felt it.”
The founder’s curiosity was piqued when they noticed Musk was consistently using their platform to build websites. “I checked his profile—turns out, he’s just a school student!” they said. What makes the story even more remarkable is that Musk is not a programmer. Instead, he is described as a creative and curious individual who leveraged AI tools to build websites for local businesses and online communities.
The success of this student challenges the widespread fear that AI will replace human workers, showcasing how AI can be used to create new avenues for income. The founder of the AI platform added, “For all the fear surrounding AI, stories like this prove that humans will always find a way. Especially in India, where hustle and ‘jugaad’ (innovation through improvisation) are part of who we are.”
This inspiring story highlights how young people can embrace AI not as a competitor, but as an empowering tool for innovation and entrepreneurship.
