A man was arrested on Saturday after scaling the iconic Hollywood sign and waving a flag promoting the cryptocurrency Vigilante Token. The individual, who was dressed in dark attire including a ski mask and camouflage vest, was apprehended by Los Angeles police following the stunt.
Authorities received reports of a person atop the sign at approximately 2:54 p.m. The flag displayed the name “Vigilante,” accompanied by a website, an X (formerly Twitter) handle, and what appeared to be the company’s logo.
The promotion followed a cryptic post on X from Vigilante Token the day before, teasing a viral stunt. The post hinted that February 15th, 2025, would mark the launch of their token in an unprecedented fashion. Just moments before the police were alerted, the company shared a photo of the Hollywood sign with the caption “Currently…”
Park rangers attempted to communicate with the individual while an ambulance stood by as a precaution. The man was taken into custody by LAPD officers just before 4 p.m. The authorities have not yet revealed the identity of the person involved.
