As the snow season looms, hotels and tourist resorts in Jilin province are making active preparations to welcome winter visitors. They are integrating local features like powder snow, hot springs, rime ice, and folk customs to create novel consumption scenarios, aiming to upgrade products, experiences, and services.
In Naitoushan village, Antu county, Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture of Jilin, tourists are drawn to abundant snow activities and folk experiences. They show particular fondness for hot spring hotels and distinctive homestays modeled after traditional Korean-style houses. Yang Lina, in charge of the Naitoushan village scenic area, said this year they’ve combined luxury homestays with ice and snow culture, crafting projects inspired by a dreamy Nordic ice and snow world. Tourists can take a small train around the luxury homestays to admire different styles of buildings or ride off-road vehicles through the snowy forest for an exciting experience.
Liu Xiang, director of the office of Piyan Mountain hot spring ancient village, noted that local hotels are often fully booked in winter. “Many tourists enjoy indoor hot springs while still wanting to soak up the icy and snowy atmosphere. So, we’ve installed large screens with ice and snow backgrounds at the hot spring pools and also offer travel photography services,” he said. He especially recommended the stand-alone homestays with eye-catching Korean-style decor and private hot spring courtyards that have won much praise.
The Huamei resort in the Changbai Mountain region, relying on skiing, hot springs, and local culture, forms an accommodation cluster suitable for all ages. A representative from the resort said its Northeast-style folk hotels and exquisite Swiss hotels will offer unique accommodation experiences this snow season. For instance, the Changbai Mountain Pinecone Holiday Club is renowned for its parent-child themed activities and rooms, attracting many families during holidays. Guests can enjoy skiing and snow entertainment rights, and there are special rooms designed for families with two children. The villas also provide full-time butler services and personalized custom services.
Wanfengtong ski resort also lures numerous guests each snow season with its diverse hotels and children’s camp inns. A representative said that more solo travelers coming for “accommodation plus skiing” in recent years has led them to add single-person accommodation packages with or without skiing included to meet changing demands.
Yan Shuai, marketing director of Beidahu Ski Resort, said the Mountain Lake Residence Hotel within the resort is popular among ski enthusiasts as there’s a free shuttle bus connecting to the ski service center.
To offer top-notch services and keep tourists coming back, many hotels and homestays in Jilin are renovating facilities, adding snow play equipment, and stepping up staff training. For example, Changbai Mountain Wanda International Resort, a comprehensive resort with multiple facilities, has built a professional service team. Wang Junling, director of the innovation business center at the resort, said the hotels have a vacation assistant role to provide comprehensive support from airport pickups to vacation planning and more. Liu from Piyan Mountain hot spring ancient village said guests can contact the accommodation butler for any issues after checking in, and the butler can offer customized services based on guests’ needs. Naitoushan village has also enhanced training to improve service awareness and introduced lifestyle butlers in many homestays for more considerate services.
