The much-anticipated Bitcoin Amsterdam Conference 2024 commenced on October 9-10, drawing Bitcoin enthusiasts and experts from around the globe. Following a successful event in Miami earlier this year, the conference is poised to be a significant gathering for the international Bitcoin community, with an expected attendance of around 5,000 participants and more than 150 prominent speakers.
Key figures in the Bitcoin ecosystem, including Jack Mallers, CEO of Strike, and Elizabeth Stark, CEO of Lightning Labs, are among the featured speakers. Mallers is set to address “The Bitcoin Revolution,” while Stark will lead discussions on Bitcoin’s technological advancements and its growing adoption.
One of the standout sessions features Adam Back, CEO of Blockstream and a noted cypherpunk pioneer, who reiterated his stance on the anonymity of Bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, stating, “We will never know who Satoshi is.” His comments have gained renewed attention following the recent HBO documentary exploring the identity of Bitcoin’s elusive founder.
Joana Cotar, a member of the German parliament, also presented a session titled “How Bitcoin Will Change National Economies.” She discussed Bitcoin’s potential to combat inflation and promote economic freedom, particularly for individuals in developing regions such as Africa.
As inflation continues to escalate in Europe, the conference’s agenda will primarily focus on Bitcoin’s role as a store of value, regulatory challenges, and the implications of mining. The Bitcoin Amsterdam Conference serves as a vital platform for debate and exchange of ideas, showcasing how Bitcoin could emerge as a transformative force in the global financial landscape.
