Ubisoft’s highly anticipated battler game, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, has made headlines as its free Warlords NFTs swiftly sold out, resulting in over $2 million in sales within a few hours of the public mint, according to data from CryptoSlam.
Following a limited presale exclusively for select fans, the pixelated Warlords, designed in a profile picture style, were minted in less than 20 minutes during the collection’s free public mint, which took place at 4 pm ET on Monday.
As of the latest data, the NFTs are actively trading on secondary marketplaces such as OpenSea, commanding a price of approximately $600 each or around 0.27 ETH. Notably, only 7% of the 9,999 Warlords NFTs are currently listed for sale, indicating that a majority of collectors may be holding onto their assets, potentially for use in unlocking the game’s next free mint for in-game characters.
While the minting of Warlords NFTs was free, buyers incurred Ethereum gas fees for their transactions, which can vary widely depending on network traffic, ranging from tens to hundreds of dollars. It’s worth noting that Champions Tactics is set to utilize the Oasys blockchain for its other crypto integrations, promising a gas-free gaming experience.
For gamers who missed out on the Warlords mint and are hesitant to spend $600 in Ethereum to access the game, Ubisoft has provided an alternative. According to the game’s website, the company plans to offer a free Champions figure drop at a later date, with additional details yet to be disclosed. This move demonstrates Ubisoft’s commitment to providing diverse opportunities for gamers to engage with the Champions Tactics universe, embracing both the NFT community and those seeking a more accessible gaming experience.
