Web3 gaming studio Mythical Games is preparing to release its highly anticipated mobile soccer game, FIFA Rivals, in June. The game, inspired by FIFA and designed for mobile devices, will be available globally on iOS and Android platforms. A pre-release version is set to launch in May, just in time for the FIFA Club World Cup.
FIFA Rivals will integrate blockchain technology, bringing a new layer of interaction for football fans. Developed in collaboration with Colombian studio Bacon Games, the game builds on Mythical Games’ previous success with its Web3 title, NFL Rivals, which attracted nearly 3 million players by the end of 2023.
Known for its strong partnerships, Mythical Games continues to establish itself as a leader in the Web3 gaming space, working with prominent sports brands such as the NFL and FIFA. FIFA has previously ventured into Web3 through digital collectibles, offering fans special perks, including opportunities to win tickets to the 2026 World Cup final.
The launch of FIFA Rivals follows a successful $150 million Series C funding round in 2021, which helped elevate Mythical Games’ valuation to $1.25 billion. Investors in the company include major names such as a16z, ARK Invest, Animoca Brands, MoonPay, PROOF, and Stanford Athletics.
In addition to FIFA Rivals, Mythical Games is also developing a new mobile game called Pudgy Party, based on the Pudgy Penguins NFT brand, which is slated for release in 2025. With FIFA Rivals, Mythical Games aims to capitalize on the intersection of football fandom and blockchain technology, creating an engaging new experience for players worldwide.
