A man was arrested on Saturday after scaling the iconic Hollywood sign and waving a flag promoting a cryptocurrency called Vigilante Token. The incident unfolded at approximately 2:54 p.m., when authorities received reports of a person perched atop the sign. The flag displayed the name “Vigilante,” along with a website address, an X (formerly Twitter) handle, and what appeared to be the token’s logo.
The individual, dressed in dark attire, including a ski mask and camouflage vest, concealed their identity. A post from Vigilante Token on X the day before hinted at a viral marketing stunt, stating, “On Feb 15th, 2025, we’re launching our Vigilante Token in the most viral way you’ve ever seen.” Just minutes before authorities were notified, the company posted an image of the Hollywood sign with the caption “Currently…”
Park rangers made attempts to communicate with the individual, while an ambulance was stationed nearby in case of injury. By 4 p.m., the suspect was taken into custody by Los Angeles Police Department officers.
