According to a recent report by Helika, Telegram’s gaming ecosystem has witnessed a significant increase in user engagement and NFT interactions during the third quarter of 2024.
The report reveals that the number of unique wallets involved in NFT transfers skyrocketed from 200,000 to over 1 million within the quarter. Out of these, approximately 600,000 wallets were actively engaged in NFT transactions across various games on the platform.
Players are also dedicating more time to Telegram games, with average session lengths nearly doubling from 2.8 minutes to 6.7 minutes. This trend suggests that enhancements in game design have effectively captured and maintained user interest.
Regional analysis indicates a notable shift in Telegram’s gaming demographics. Unlike traditional Web3 gaming platforms, where Asia and Latin America dominate, Europe now accounts for 55.91% of players engaging with Telegram games.
Among the standout developments, the game Catizen successfully executed its first airdrop, distributing 34% of its total token allocation. In September alone, 150 million tokens were distributed, driving increased activity and demonstrating its seamless integration into Telegram. Furthermore, Binance listed Catizen on its Launchpool, enabling users to farm the game’s native token ahead of its trading debut.
Gamee also reported a remarkable 300% month-over-month increase in volume and transactions, indicating a surge in player engagement. X Empire attracted nearly 48 million players, with 18 million linking their wallets to access the game’s features. Other notable games include Rocky Rabbit, which garnered 30 million players, and Banana, reaching 10 million users by October. Additionally, Wonton achieved over 1 million users within its first week of launch.
However, the report does highlight challenges facing developers amidst the influx of new games on the platform. Smaller development teams often grapple with limited marketing budgets and attracting new users. In response, developers are diversifying game genres and expanding their offerings to include simulations, RPGs, and puzzles, reflecting the evolving nature of Telegram’s gaming ecosystem beyond basic casual games.
