In light of the recent WazirX hacking incident and ongoing legal issues, a heated discussion has arisen on social media concerning the protection afforded to users of major cryptocurrency exchanges.
Crypto influencer and CoinDCX user Gaurav Chaudhary (@asliGC) recently shared a screenshot on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) that reveals a conversation with CoinDCX’s customer service. In the chat, Chaudhary alleges that CoinDCX acknowledged the lack of regulatory oversight for most crypto assets and related services.
This acknowledgment suggests that users of such services are not afforded the same safeguards as those using regulated financial institutions. Notably, this includes the absence of mechanisms for filing complaints or seeking compensation in the event of issues.
Chaudhary has issued a cautionary note to his followers, alleging that Indian crypto exchanges might exploit their users due to this regulatory gap. He labeled CoinDCX as a “scammer exchange” and advised heightened vigilance in the web3 space, warning that fraudulent activities are becoming increasingly prevalent.
His tweet serves as a crucial reminder for cryptocurrency investors to be aware of the inherent risks associated with unregulated services and to take necessary precautions against potential scams. Chaudhary’s intent is to enhance awareness and safeguard users from what he perceives as misleading practices by some crypto exchanges.
